Gordon and Sanders Named CIAA Indoor Track and Field Field Athletes of the Week

Lincoln University Track and Field athletes Krystahl Gordon (Fredriksted, V.I./Saint Croix Edu Complex) and Jaylen Sanders(North Las Vegas, Nev./Centennial) have been named the Central intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Indoor Track and Field  Women's and Men's Field Athletes of the Week for their performance at the 2019 Collegeville Classic last Saturday.
 
The award marks the second time Gordon has earned CIAA Field Athlete of the Week honors this season.  For Sanders, the weekly honor is his first.
 
Gordon took home two third place finishes in the long jump and triple jump competitions at Saturday's Collegeville Classic. In the long jump, she recorded a leap of 5.09 meters (16 8½") and in the triple jump had a mark of 10.74 meters (35'3").  Her triple jump mark is a season best and is the third longest jump by a CIAA triple jumper this season.
 
Sanders placed second in the long jump at the Collegeville Classic on Saturday, jumping 6.65 meters (21' 10"). His jump was a personal best and places him sixth on the CIAA performance list for this season. Sanders also ran the third leg of Lincoln's 4 x 400 relay which finished second.
 
Gordon, Sanders and the rest of the Lincoln University Track and Field teams will be back in action on Friday, January 25, 2019 when they compete at the Little Dip Invitational,  hosted by Franklin and Marshall College.
