Green Named CIAA Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week

Charlotte, N.C. - Lincoln University basketball player Tamir Green (Philadelphia, Pa./Constitution) has been named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for his performance during the week ending January 20, 2019. 
 
The CIAA weekly awards are voted on by members of the CIAA Men's Basketball Coaches Association and the CIAA Sports Information Director's Association (CIAA-SIDA). CIAA-SIDA members nominate players for the awards.
 
Green becomes the third Lions player to earn CIAA Rookie of the Week honors this season, joining Zahrion Blue(Princeton, N.J./Princeton) (Jan.6) and Bernard Lightsey (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) (Nov. 25).
 
In the Lions two games last week, Green came off the bench to score 34 points and dish out 14 assists, while recording six steals and grabbing eight rebounds.
 
Green poured in a career-high 25 points in LU's loss at Bowie State on Saturday while dishing out six assists and recording three steals. He had nine points, eight assists and three steals in the Lions loss at Shaw last Monday..
 
For the week, Green averaged 17 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals per game. 
 
The men's basketball team returns to action on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 when they host Elizabeth City State University in a CIAA North Division contest.  Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
