International Student Admissions

Since our beginning, Lincoln University has attracted an interracial and international enrollment from the surrounding community, region, and around the world. Today, our liberal arts and science-based degree programs serve a diverse student body, representing many cultures, countries, career interests.

International students from 20 countries currently make up less than 10 percent of the population at Lincoln, and we are working to raise that rate to 15 percent through an aggressive effort to establish our presence globally. International students enrich our community with their ideas and culture, and together we develop a greater understanding of what it means to be a world citizen. 

Admissions Requirements for International Students

• You should be proficient in the English language.
• If you come from a country where English is not the official language, you need to submit your scores from the Test of English As a Foreign Language, or TOEFL.
• If English is your native language, you are required to take the Scholastic Assessment Test, or SAT.
• If English is your native language, you are required to take the Scholastic Assessment Test, or SAT. You can find registration forms and information about both tests – TOEFL and SAT – from the Educational Testing Service.
• You need to submit official copies of transcripts, listing all subjects taken and grades received, and a General Certificate of Education or its equivalent.
• Include a letter of recommendation from the principal of the secondary school attended and a character recommendation, preferably from a teacher or other professional person who knows you well.
• Submit a statement signed by the person who will be responsible for your financial obligation. Payment of the first semester’s tuition, fees, room and board are required before you are issued the INS Form I-20.
