C. Marlene Lacy

A native of Wilmington Delaware, Marlene Lacy has taught Art for over twenty years. She attended The University of the Arts in Philadelphia and received a BFA in Graphic Design in 1980, after which she worked as a freelance Graphic Artist and co-owned a design firm in Wilmington. After having children, she went back to school attending the University of the Arts in Philadelphia were she received her MAT in Art Education in 1995. Certified in the State of Delaware and working in the Brandywine School District in Wilmington, Marlene taught 8th grade Art for 10 years, then moved to high school teaching Intro to Art, Drawing, Painting, Photography, AP Studio Art and International Baccalaureate Visual Art. With her students, she reached to partner with an elementary school for a joint project and exhibit, raised money for Meals on Wheels and helped to support a community art festival. Marlene began working at Lincoln in spring of 2012 teaching Introduction to Art.

She considers herself a strong advocate for Art being an essential aspect of the educational experience and beneficial to all. Marlene was a very proud and active member of the National Education Association on the Local, State and National levels. She also served and worked on several District and State Task Forces and Committee’s to help outline the Visual Arts Assessment and Teacher Accountability tools for State Testing in Delaware.

Marlene considers herself as a working artist and has had several individual and group shows of her work. Her realistic work shows her love of Drawing and her Mixed Media pieces showcase her Abstract/Graphic combinations. Marlene and her husband Dwight have been married for 23 years and have two sons, one of which is a senior at  Lincoln University.
