Lincoln has received the award three years in a row.
LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, for the third year in a row, has received the Outstanding College Award from the American Red Cross for successfully sponsoring blood drives at the campus in southern Chester County, PA. The award is given to the college that has the most units designated to help children diagnosed with sickle cell disease. Accepting the award for the University (L-R) are: Taundria Boodie, senior majoring in biology from Brooklyn, NY, and vice president of Students Against AIDS; Linda Racine, director of the University's Health Services Center; and Dr. William B. Bynum, Jr., Lincoln’s Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.
In April 2004, 25 units were collected for the sickle cell program. Since April 2001, Lincoln has collected over 185 pints of blood; also, since each pint can save up to three lives, that’s 555 lives saved! The next drive at Lincoln is scheduled for October 19, 2004.
