Lincoln University has announced the appointment of Cheryl M. Thomas as Interim Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Campaign Manager. She will assume the position February 1, 2013.
“I have known Ms. Thomas for more than 20 years,” said President Dr. Robert R. Jennings. “She is a competent and skilled advancement professional. I am so pleased that she would join the Lincoln family and assist us at this moment in our history. With her assistance, we are poised to launch a much needed campaign to help us in our quest to advance the mission and goals of our University.”
Thomas has more than 20 years of experience as an institutional advancement professional. She has held the positions of Director of Planned Giving and Donor Relations at Xavier University of New Orleans, Director of Planning Giving and Senior Development Officer at Meharry Medical College, Program Manager and Instructor at Louisiana State Department of Education and most recently as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Tuskegee University, Alabama.
A graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana, she also holds certifications in Planned Giving and Major Fund Development from the College of William and Mary. She has been active in her profession, serving as a member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education District III Board of Directors and Co-Chair of the Committee on Opportunity & Equity. She is also a former co-chair of the United Way of New Orleans Allocations Committee, a former member of the Board of Directors for Partnership for Philanthropic Planning, and the American Council on Gift Annuities.
