LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA. – Lincoln University received a $33,000.00 grant from the Educational Advancement Alliance, Inc. to continue its 12th year of the Summer Transportation Institute (STI). The Educational Advancement Alliance, Inc. has contributed over $280,000.00 to the program. Over 215 students have graduated from the program at Lincoln University since 1999.
President and CEO of the Educational Advancement Alliance Inc., Karen Nicholas ’79 is co-sponsoring the 2011 STI program with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) who has contributed $64, 528.20 for a total grant of $97,578.20. The program started July 5, with 24 student participants.
The mission of the Summer Transportation Institute is to create awareness, stimulate interest and expose secondary school students to take advantage of the opportunities that exist in the transportation industry. Students will participate in academic, enhancement, and sports and recreation programs while experiencing a university learning environment for four weeks. The participants will be exposed to all modes of transportation including land, water and air.
The academic program will consist of in-classroom learning from instructors on time management, science, math, wealth accumulation, and web-page design. Sports and recreations included time in the Lincoln University pool and recreation center.
