Lincoln University held its annual Founder’s Day/Alumni Awards Banquet fundraiser on Saturday, May 5, and more than $200,000 was raised from the Alumni. The money was provided by the reunion classes (2s and 7s), which conducted fundraising drives before the event and even some that evening. Taking top honors was the Lincoln Class of 1967, which raised nearly $44,000. What began as a simple request from Master of Ceremonies, Warren R. Colbert, Sr., to match his $1,000 check culminated in more than $41,000 in on-the-spot donations and pledges. Overall, almost $77,000 was raised Saturday night and over $148,000 was raised so far this year from the reunion classes.
Earlier in the evening, three Lincoln University alumni were honored for their years of dedicated service. The honorees were Robert Hudson ’62, Donald Notice ’79, and W. Keith Williams, II, Esq. ’87, for their contributions to the betterment of the University.
The University would like to send a heart felt thanks to all who attended the Founder’s Day banquet, and a tremendous thanks to those who gave generous donation to help LU maintain its strength during these tough economic times. Lincoln University President Robert R. Jennings (pictured above) is asking our alumni to help bring the total amount raised to over $200,000.
