Dear Lincoln Students, Faculty, Staff, Alumni and Parents:

I am pleased to serve as the Acting President of Lincoln University. The members of the Cabinet and I join the Board in an uncompromising commitment to the University, and to advancing its great legacy. The best interest of our students will always be at the heart of our efforts.

In the coming months, we will have many conversations with you about various aspects of the University’s strategic direction and progress. Today I write to share our thoughts on three necessary next steps toward strengthening engagement with all members of our community:

  • The Lincoln Board of Trustees and the administration take the issue of sexual misconduct seriously and have done significant work to prevent sexual misconduct at the University. To help build on this important work, I have asked the Vice President of Student Affairs, Dr. Juliana Mosley, to lead a Task Force on Sexual Misconduct comprised of faculty, students, and staff and to develop recommendations for educational programs and other measures to further the University’s commitment to providing a healthy and safe learning environment. We will be inviting thought leaders in the areas of gender equity and sexual violence to address our community as well.
  • We will be meeting with members of our faculty to discuss establishing an advisory council or other mechanism to ensure that faculty perspectives are effectively engaged.
  • We will be meeting with members of our student body, staff, alumni, and  parents to ensure that there is a forum for you to share your perspectives as well. Lincoln’s students, faculty, staff, alumni, and parents are a vital part of the University family. In the same way that families come together in times of transition, let us draw closer, united by our concern for students and the future of Lincoln.

Valerie I. Harrison, J.D.
Acting President
