Lincoln University Appoints Michael C. Taylor, a 1995 Lincoln Graduate and Former Administrator, Director of Alumni Relations

Michael C. Taylor, a 1995 Lincoln University alumnus and a former associate director of Admissions at the University, has been appointed director of Alumni Relations for the institution. He reports to Michael B. Hill, vice president for Development and External Relations.

Since 2000, Taylor had served as director of Admissions for Saint Paul's College in Lawrenceville, VA. As director of Alumni Relations for Lincoln, he is responsible for serving as the key liaison between the University and its alumni. Moreover, he is responsible for maintaining relations with the Alumni Association as well as assisting the Association in building and revitalizing alumni chapters. He will also play an important role in soliciting alumni support for major fund-raising initiatives such as the Capital Campaign and the Annual Fund. In addition, he will develop programs that expand alumni participation in Homecoming, Founder's Day and other annual University events. He rejoined Lincoln's staff on January 7, 2002.

Taylor also is responsible for developing the giving guidelines for class reunions; preparing materials for alumni publications; extending and maintaining the alumni database; tracking and reporting on the progress of alumni activities; and acting as a liaison between senior students and alumni to encourage seniors to become active members of the Lincoln Alumni Association.

This appointment is a homecoming for Taylor, who earned his bachelor's of science degree in human services from Lincoln. Taylor enrolled in Lincoln as a member of the class of 1995 and graduated in 1997. After graduation, he joined the Office of Admissions where he progressed from Admissions Counselor to Assistant Admissions Director to Associate Admissions Director. In August 2000, he left Lincoln to become Director of Admissions at Saint Paul's College. At St. Paul's, he was successful in raising the college's profile among Virginia's admissions counselors. In addition, he was responsible for a 133% increase in St. Paul's number of applicants, a 118% increase in matriculating transfer students and a 74% increase in matriculating freshmen.

During his undergraduate days at Lincoln, Taylor was an accomplished member of the cross-country team, becoming a six-time NCAA Division III Track and Field All-American. In 1995, he was a member of the Indoor-Outdoor Division III National Championship Team. In 1993, he was the NCAA Division III 800-meter Indoor National Champion. He is currently pursuing a master of science degree in administration at Lincoln's Graduate Education Center in Philadelphia.
