Nation’s First Black University Celebrates Return of Alumni

$5,000 and above donorsLINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA--- Lincoln University, the nation’s first Historically Black University, will celebrate its annual Homecoming on its southern Chester County campus during the weekend of October 25-27 with a full slate of events designed to celebrate the University’s rich tradition and strong alumni network nationwide.

Lincoln University’s Homecoming weekend will officially begin on Friday, October 25 when the University hosts its Fall Open House for parents and students from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. However, Lincoln University’s main event will be Homecoming Day 2002 on Saturday, October 26 when the University will host a number of activities designed to renew ties and forge new relationships among alumni, current students faculty and staff.

Among the many planned on-campus Homecoming Day events will be the Alumni Association Council Meeting, the Ladies/Lions Auxiliary Meeting, reunion classes meetings, Homecoming Networking Jam and the President’s Alumni Contributors Awards Luncheon, where the University will officially thank its largest contributors. Founded in 1854, Lincoln University is a premier, Historically Black University that combines the best elements of a liberal arts and sciences-based undergraduate core curriculum and selected graduate programs to meet the needs of students living in a highly technological and global society. The University is nationally recognized as a major producer of African Americans with undergraduate degrees in the physical sciences.

From April 2003 through May 2004, the University will celebrate its sesquicentennial, or 150th anniversary with an array of campus and external events, activities and announcements. Please see the next page for a full schedule of planned activities for Lincoln University’s 2002 Homecoming.
