LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA ~ President Ivory V. Nelson has announced a $25,450 gift from the Consortium of Information and Telecommunications Executives (CITE), a national nonprofit organization representing African American employees and retirees of Verizon. The gift will be used to fund academic scholarships.
“We are extremely grateful to receive this generous donation from CITE,” President Nelson said. “These are individuals who understand and have an appreciation for the value of a higher education. Many of our students will benefit from their generosity.”
CITE is a national nonprofit organization that represents over 35,000 African American employees and retirees of the New York-based broadband and communications company. CITE is committed to industry excellence, community service, and personal and professional development. A resource group for Verizon employees, CITE provides employee advocacy, networking and professional development opportunities.
CITE members are active members of the community and provide scholarships to students requiring financial assistance across the United States.
“We partner with organizations like Lincoln University that are aligned with our efforts to further literacy and technology in the community,” Leona Punzi, CITE president said. “This donation is an investment in the futures of well deserving young men and women and the African American community.”
Founded in 1854, Lincoln University is a premier, historically Black University that combines the best elements of a liberal arts and sciences-based undergraduate core curriculum and selected graduate programs to meet the needs of those living in a highly technological and global society. The University is nationally recognized as a major producer of African Americans with undergraduate degrees in the physical sciences (biology, chemistry and physics); computer and informational sciences; biological and life sciences. Lincoln has an enrollment of 2,423 undergraduate and graduate students.
