Scott Miller Named Director of Communications and Public Relations at Lincoln University

Scott MillerLincoln University – Lincoln University is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Miller as Director of Communications and Public Relations.

Miller comes to Lincoln University after serving in higher education media relations at two institutions. From 2007 to 2011, Miller was the Manager of University Communications at Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas.  There he oversaw media relations and communications strategies for five OU campuses and a burgeoning online program.

From 2004 to 2007, Miller served as the Community Relations Manager and Sports Information Director at Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont.  In addition to overseeing 18 varsity and club sports, Miller was the spokesman for the nation’s oldest private military college.

“I am so pleased to be joining Lincoln University,” said Miller. “The rich and proud history of Lincoln combined with the current expansion makes for a great story to tell and I look forward to telling it.  I am also looking forward to working with Dr. Robert Jennings as he begins his presidency at Lincoln.”

Prior to his foray into higher education media relations, Miller was a freelance news and sports broadcaster based in Salt Lake City, Utah, for a host of local and national outlets, including KSL Newsradio, AP Network Sports, and ESPN Radio.  Some of the high-profile stories he covered include the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping, the 2002 Olympic winter games, and the 1997 and 1998 NBA Finals. Additionally, Miller was the radio play-by-play announcer for the Weber State Wildcats and provided play-by-play services for BYU Television.

“We are pleased to have someone with Mr. Miller’s skill and expertise join our team,” said President Jennings.  “We are confident that with his support, we will position our University for new levels of excellence.”

Miller holds a Master of Professional Communication degree from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, and a BS in Electronic Journalism from Weber State University.

Miller is married to the former Cherise Stokes and they are the parents of four daughters and one son.
