LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA – Lincoln alumnus Takeyah Young ’99 was recently named Interim Director of Alumni Relations for Lincoln University. Young, who assumed her role on June 1, replaced Rita Dibble, who departed the position to become Assistant Vice President for Advancement at Mansfield University.
Young, who is a small business development and operations consultant, specializes in systems development, process improvement, operations optimization, and new media communications.
“Lincoln was very instrumental in teaching me about scholarship, leadership, community, and connection,” Young said. “I am appreciative of the administration’s confidence in my ability to lead. Serving in Alumni Relations is an opportunity to contribute to Lincoln University at an institutional level and help advance our legacy. I look forward to supporting the Office of Alumni Relations in becoming a resource to help alums better themselves, the University, and the world.”
Young is the founder of Core Connection Lifestyle, a small lifestyle and human potential business that develops and provides wellness and health solutions through consulting, coaching, and training. Working with individual, corporate, non-profit, and government entities, she creates in-person and online programs and events designed to draw awareness to navigating health and lifestyle challenges.
She also maintains a 15-year yoga practice and served as an Adjunct Professor of Mathematics at Howard County Community College and the University of the District of Columbia –Community College for six years.
Formerly a part of the LASER (Lincoln Advanced Science and Engineering Reinforcement) Program while at Lincoln, she received her bachelor’s degree in physics with a minor in Japanese and mathematics in 1999 and then a master’s degree in engineering from the University of Maryland at College Park in 2006. In addition, she received training and certifications in project management, coaching, leadership, and supervision.
A speaker, entrepreneur, and “fixer,” Young has been featured in Black Enterprise, Dyana Valentine, The Brand New Mommy, Eco-Beautiful Weddings, South Florida Times, The Miami Times, and All About the Pretty.
Founded in 1854, The Lincoln University (PA) is the FIRST of four Lincoln Universities in the world and is the nation’s FIRST degree-granting Historically Black College and University (HBCU). The University combines the elements of a liberal arts and science-based undergraduate curriculum along with select graduate programs to meet the needs of those living in a highly technological and global society.
