LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA - A pair of Lincoln University baseball players have earned preseason honors from Black College Nines, a baseball news website dedicated to preserving the legacy of Historically Black College and University baseball.
Sophomore Hilman Truss (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton West), a first-team postseason honoree last season, earned first-team honors, while sophomore Jefrey Azcona picked up second team laurels. He led the team with 24 RBI and slashed .342/.426/.494 for the season. The third baseman finished with two doubles, two triples, and two home runs. He was a perfect 5-for-5 on stolen bases.
After missing the first nine games of the season, Azcona entered the lineup and made an immediate impact with his back. In his 15 games, Azcona slashed .400/.484/.424 on the season with four doubles, 12 runs scored and 14 RBI. His RBI total was fourth on the team. He was also third on the team with seven stolen bases.
Lincoln opens the 2022 campaign in Cary, N.C. with single games against Bluefield State College and Post University.
