Lincoln University, Pa. - Lincoln University Director of Athletics Harry Stinson III is proud to announce the elevation of Wilson Bailey to the position of Head Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach.

"I'm grateful to be promoted to Head Cross Country Coach at my alma mater," said Bailey.  "I'm honored to be the first full-time head coach for both programs. Over the past two years, I've worked tremendously hard to build a strong culture of cross country, mid-distance and distance running."

Bailey has served as the Interim Head Cross Country and Track and Field Coach since September 2018 following the departure of Quanette Ford.  He guided the Lions men's program to a fourth place finish at the 2018 Central intercollegiate Athletic Association Cross Country Championships.  He also coached a pair of All-CIAA cross country runners in Nazirah Purnell (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area (Cheyney)) who finished third at the conference championship and Kyuande Johnson (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) who placed eighth in the men's race.

"Coach Bailey has done an excellent job with our programs during the interim period, "adds Stinson.  "I would like to thank him for his service and am proud to elevate his position."

"I would like to thank Mr. Harry Stinson for promoting me to Interim Head Track and Field / Cross Country Coach this past season, "adds Bailey.  "I got the opportunity to develop my organizational leadership, coaching and recruiting skills during this time. I'm proud of my programs for all of the accomplishments within the CIAA, IC4A and Lincoln University academics. "

Bailey adds, "I would also like to extend my gratitude to my student-athletes for trusting my guidance and supporting me every step of the way. I look forward to a successful tenure in my new role at Lincoln. "

A 2013 graduate from Lincoln University, Bailey returned to his alma mater as an assistant cross country and track and field coach in 2016 following a successful career as a member of the Lions' cross country and track and field teams from 2009-13. While competing at Lincoln University, Bailey was named All-CIAA in 2011 & 2013 for his efforts at the CIAA Cross Country Championship. In addition, Bailey holds the school indoor record for the 3,000-meter run.

Lincoln's track and field teams earned several accolades during the 2018-19 indoor and outdoor seasons including a total of seven All-CIAA honors on the men's side for both indoor and outdoor segments, 12 CIAA Athletes of the Week (seven men, five women) and the CIAA Outdoor Track and Field Men's field Athlete of the Year won by Solomon Potter.

"I would like to extend a special thank you to Coach Bailey for his leadership with the program this past year," said Roland Whiting,  Lincoln's new Director of Track and Field/Cross Country Operations and Head Men's and Women's Track and Field Coach.  "I look forward to working with coach and continue to build on our success."
