Baseball announces 2021 recruiting class

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. - The Lincoln University baseball program has announced the signing of six student-athletes in the current recruiting class.

"We are extremely excited to announce the commitment of these players and what their addition can mean for our program," said Pla. "We are still recruiting for 2021 and have a few positional needs to address."

The class is heavy on pitching and infield talent as four of the student-athletes are either infielders or pitchers. Two of the signees will provide an impact on the mound and in the lineup. Five different states and the District of Columbia are represented in the signing class, including a signee from as far away as New Mexico.

Miguel Agramonte | 6-1 | 200 | INF
Fallston, Md. | Fallston High School
COACHES COMMENTS: Miguel is a large framed utility man. He can play multiple infield positions, the corner outfield spots, and has even seen time as a catcher. The imposing right-handed bat has a smooth bat path that produces gap to gap power. With such a unique skill set and a present hit tool, the defensive swiss army knife should see a significant opportunity for early playing time in 22.

Wesley Hogan | 6-3 | 210 | INF
Washington, D.C. | Maret High School
COACHES COMMENTS: Wesley has an intimidating frame that delivers a ton of pop gap to gap from the right side. He is a polished defender with a plus arm and really good feet for a guy his size. Overall, he has the potential to be an impact player as early as the 2022 season and beyond.

Javen Pena | 5-11 | 195 | LHP
 Freeport, N.Y./Freeport High School
COACHES COMMENTS: Javen is a smooth pitching lefty that has a good three-pitch mix. He can keep guys off-balanced and pound the outer third of the strike zone. He can also get swing and misses on all pitches and holds runners very well. Javen projects to be an impact arm as early as 2022.

Colin Porter | 5-10 | 205 | IF/RHP
Sun Valley, Pa. | Sun Valley High School
COACHES COMMENTS: Colin is a multi-dimensional talent who has huge power from the left side. His ability to pitch, hit, and play defense provides a ton of flexibility on our roster. He can play multiple infield positions and has the stuff to start or pitch in relief. Colin has legit light-tower power and can change a game with one swing.

Gabriel Sanchez | 5-11 | 185 | RHP
Gadsden, N.M. | Gadsden High School
COACHES COMMENTS: Gabe has legit number one stuff and a true three-pitch mix. His high-spin four-seam fastball allows him to pitch up in the zone and mask the heavy 12-6 breaking ball. Probably his biggest weapon is his change-up, which has a ton of depth and late life giving him another swing and miss pitch. Gabriel can come in and be a big part of our pitching staff starting in 2022.

Jarek Vargas | 6-2 | 205 | 1B/LHP
Manchester Township, N.J. | Manchester Township High School
COACHES COMMENTS: Jarek is an imposing figure in the box with a left-handed bat producing loud contact all over the park. He is a slick-fielding first baseman, who has an uncanny ability to dig balls out and make plays away from the bag. As a pitcher, he brings a fastball with heavy two-seam action and shows two developing off-speed pitches. There is a distinct opportunity to earn playing time immediately at first base and on the mound in the 2022 season.
