LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA - Two Lincoln University student-athletes have been selected for the 2020 National Football League Events and Club Business Development Experienceship Program.
Senior soccer player Cedar Davidson (Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada/Aurora) and sophomore track & field/football student-athlete Christopher Brown (New Castle, Del./William Penn) were two of six CIAA student-athletes selected for the prestigious opportunity. In total, 32 participants were selected out of 180 applicants.
"We're excited for these deserving students from our member institutions and HBCU communities- including the SIAC, MEAC, and SWAC - to take part in the NFL Experienceship. This is a great opportunity to assist moving our students into the pipeline for leadership and gain invaluable access to the business side of sports while working with an industry leader," said CIAA Commissioner Jacqie McWilliams.
Davidson, a Biology major with Human Services, French and Bioinformation minors, started all 15 games last season for the Lions women's soccer team. She is also on the Lincoln University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Executive Board.
"I am so excited and grateful for this opportunity," said Davidson. "I am looking forward to trying something new and gaining more experiences and skills to help me be the best person I can be."
Brown, a mass communications major, didn't see much action in his freshman season for the Lions. He was also slated to join the Lincoln Track & Field team before the season was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"I am really excited about the opportunity," said Brown. "I always wanted to have a career related to sports, and to have an opportunity to network with NFL professionals is a dream come true."
The NFL Events and Club Business Development Experienceship begins in September and runs through the end of the NFL league year. The program is a two-prong approach serving as both mentorship and professional development program that introduces the career path of sports and event production to students.
The NFL Events and Club Business Development departments touch all facets of the NFL from the league office to all 32 clubs, providing participants unprecedented access to one of the most prominent sports leagues in the world.
