Brown honored by CIAA, again

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA – For the fourth time this season, a Lincoln University women's basketball player earned weekly recognition from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, the league announced today (Monday, January 24, 2022).

Redshirt senior Bryanna Brown (New York, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) was named CIAA Food Lion Player of the Week for the third time this season after helping Lincoln to a 2-0 week. It marks the second consecutive season a Lincoln women's basketball player earned Player of the Week honors three times in a season, joining eventual 2019-20 CIAA Player of the Year, Kwanza Murray.

"This season, Bry has truly displayed the consistency coaches relish," said Lincoln University women's basketball coach Janice Washington. "It was a great week for her, not only from a scoring and rebounding perspective, but also her ball control was outstanding. (To have) six assists and two turnovers is solid."

She averaged 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and three assists over two contests, while shooting 42 percent (5-of-12) from three-point range. In a 24-point win over regionally-ranked Elizabeth City, Brown – the conference's leading scorer - dropped 16 points. She added a 19-point performance in the win over Virginia Union.

Lincoln (13-4 overall, 6-1 CIAA) returns to the hardwood 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, hosting Shaw. Only Lincoln students, faculty and staff will be allowed to attend games at Manuel Rivero Gymnasium.
