Butler named Regional Athlete of the Year

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Lincoln University sophomore Glenn Butler, Jr. (Greenburgh, N.Y./White Plains) has been named the Atlantic Region Field Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

"Glenn came into the season focused on improving daily," said Lincoln University head track & field coach Roland Whiting. "He set the mark on one of his first jumps of the season, and has been working on tightening up his technique in preparation for nationals."

Butler (Greenburgh, N.Y./White Plains) will be competing in the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships as a long jumper in Birmingham Thursday. He is ranked third nationally in the long jump with a mark of 7.58 meters. He also has posted two more marks of 7.57 meters. Additionally, he is ranked 11th nationally in the high jump (2.08 meters). 

He is the first Lincoln Division II student-athlete to earn the honor from the USTFCCCA, and the first student-athlete to earn indoor all-region honors since Matthew Huckabee in 2014.
