Butler qualifies for NCAA Indoor Championships

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. - For the first time since 2015, Lincoln University will be represented in the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Sophomore Glenn Butler, Jr. (Greenburgh, N.Y./White Plains) (Greenburgh, N.Y./White Plains), in his first season as a Lion, earned a berth into the 2021 NCAA Indoor Championships as a long jumper. He will enter the event ranked third nationally. Butler achieved the qualifying mark (7.58 meters) on his third jump of the season, competing at the East Coast Invitational in Virginia Beach, Va. In the two meets this season, Butler won the long jump both times.

"I am excited for Glenn," said Lincoln University head coach Roland Whiting. "Glenn has worked on his technique all winter and spring, and is poised to make an impact in the 2021 championships."

Butler posted the 11th-best height in the high jump but chose to not compete in the championships and focus on the long jump. The two events are on the same day and separated by only a couple of hours.

The last Lincoln University student-athlete to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships was Xury Mboya, who placed 16th in the 2015 long jump.

The championships will be held March 11-13 in Birmingham, Alabama at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The University of Montevallo and the City of Birmingham will serve as co-hosts of the championships. The championships will be streamed live on NCAA.com.
