Lincoln University’s Male Initiative Program is pleased to announce the return of the Lincoln University campus barber. Tyrone Brown, an Oxford resident, will be on campus every Wednesday from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. and Thursday 5 – 10 p.m. during the semester to cut hair in the Pride Cuts Barbershop, located in the Student Union Building, Suite 116. Pride Cuts Barbershop is available for Lincoln University students, faculty, and staff.

“I am happy that we can accommodate our residential students with several essential services, one of which is a campus barber, and I anticipate a hair stylist opening very soon," said Roselle Wilson, vice president of Student Affairs.

Lincoln University’s Male Initiative was established in 2016 by the late Interim Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Edgar Berry. Under his leadership, he appointed Residence Hall Coordinator Jonathan Harris to serve as the chairman of the Initiative.

Regarding the barber’s return to campus, Harris said, “I am absolutely ecstatic to create another avenue to attract and retain the best of the best males. Between our engaging faculty and staff, highly competitive academic programs, and enriching student organizations, we are excited to help our cohort of men become the next CEOs of companies, presidents of countries, and change agents of various industries.”

Harris said that having a campus barber will allow students to have access to a convenient personal service and will give them another mentor to share life experiences and wisdom.

“The old expression is ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ so we are excited to have a partnership with such a dynamic and giving person,” Harris said.

Barber Tyrone Brown said he is honored to be back on campus.

“I am very appreciative for the opportunity to return to Lincoln University this fall. I believe that this partnership will be a positive one. An on-campus barber will bring convenience to both students as well as the faculty in obtaining hair cut services within a short distance to them.”

Brown said he expects the barbershop will be a positive atmosphere where everyone can feel comfortable as though they were home getting a haircut from their regular barber.

“I believe that everyone's main objective for this partnership is focusing on the students and making their school year as convenient and comfortable as possible while attending Lincoln University,” Brown said.
