Lincoln University women's basketball player Michelle Fitzgerald (Baltimore, Md./Md. Academy of Tech & Health Science (N.C. A & T)) has been named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Newcomer of the Week for her performance during the week ending February 11, 2018.

Fitzgerald led the Lions to a 2-0 record last week as they recorded a key division road win at Bowie State University and another division win at home against Elizabeth City State University.

Opening the week against Bowie State, the senior forward grabbed a career high 17 rebounds to go along with 13 points.  Her 17 rebounds are the fifth highest single season total in program history. (The school record is 27 set by Naneka Braithwaite in 1994).

On Saturday, Fitzgerald scored a career high 25 points while pulling down 11 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season.  She also was a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line, becoming just the second person in program history to make ten or more free throws in a game without a miss.
