Hines with three hits in loss

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. - The Lincoln University baseball team dropped the opening game of the three-game series with Queens College Friday, 21-7, in East Coast Conference action at the Lincoln University Baseball Field.

Queens did the majority of its damage in the middle third of the contest, scoring 18 of its 21 runs.

Sophomore Willie Hines (Bowie, Md./Bowie) (Bowie, Md./Bowie) recorded his fifth multi-hit game of the season, going 3-for-5 with a run scored, two doubles, an RBI, and a pair of stolen bases. Freshman Hilman Truss (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton West) (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton West) went 2-for-5 with a run scored, a triple, and two RBI, while freshman Jefry Azcona (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic) (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic) added a 2-for-4 night with a pair of RBI.

Sophomore DeAndre Bowens (Rock Hill, N.Y. /Monticello) (Rock Hill, N.Y./Monticello) was 2-for-4 with a run scored, and senior Kashif Hill (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker Academy) (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker Academy) was 2-for-5 with a run scored, an RBI, and two stolen bases.

Junior Trevon Sutton (Chicago, Ill./Harlan Community Academy), 2-3, (Chicago, Ill./Harlan Community Academy) took the loss, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits in 3 2/3 innings.

The conclusion of the series is set for noon Saturday with a doubleheader. Freshman Luis Miguel Reinoso (Beltsville, Md./High Point) is scheduled to pitch the nine-inning game, while senior Rolando Alvarez (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth Regional) will start the seven-inning contest.
