LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA – And then there were two.
For just the second time in school history, a Lincoln University football player has earned NCAA Division II All-American honors from the American Football Coaches Association, Waco, TX.
Freshman Achille Laudet (Stillwater, Minn. /Stillwater) is one of two Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) players, and only freshman, to earn All-American honors from the coaching organization – earning second-team punter honors, the organization announced today (December 8, 2021).
"We knew Achilles was special when we first had an opportunity to bring him to campus for a visit," said Lincoln University head coach Josh Dean. "Achilles Laudet has a tremendous effect on both sides of the ball with allowing us to control field position, which is crucial to winning football. To put the numbers up that he did with a lot of room to get better is exciting to know. We are lucky to have him apart of our Lincoln Lions Football family. He is definitely deserving of his All-American recognition."
The 2021 CIAA Special Teams Player of the Year led the conference in punting, and is 11th nationally, averaging 42.2 yards per kick. His 10 punts over 50 yards are almost twice as many as any other punter in the conference.
He joins Tim Green, who picked up first-team honors in 2011.
The AFCA has selected an All-America team since 1945 and currently selects teams in all five of its divisions. What makes these teams so special is that they are the only ones chosen exclusively by the men who know the players the best — the coaches themselves.
