Lincoln University, Pa. – Lincoln University in Pennsylvania has appointed Dr. Patricia Pierce Ramsey provost and vice president of Academic Affairs beginning July 1. A Bowie State (Maryland) University professor and chairwoman of the Department of Natural Sciences, Ramsey, brings “a wealth of experience to the position,” Interim President Richard Green said in an announcement to campus.
“It’s no surprise Patricia impressed all those she met during her recent visit to campus: she’s an accomplished educator, researcher, and administrator, and as more people get to know her, her ability to quickly understand and act on the needs of our faculty and students will be become more evident,” Green said.
She has served as provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at Bowie State, as well as interim president. Prior to her 11-year tenure at Bowie State, she served as vice president for Academic Affairs at Shaw University for more than four years.
Ramsey earned a doctorate in biology from Georgetown University, a Master of Arts in biology from Harvard University, a Master of Science in botany from Howard University, and a Bachelor of Science in biology education from Norfolk State University. She has completed leadership programs at Harvard’s Institute for Educational Management, the Millennium Leadership Initiative and the CIVIC Leadership Institute.
She is accomplished in many aspects of university administration and governance including budget management, fundraising, and outreach as well as recruitment and retention, academics, scholarship, and accreditation.
Ramsey is married to Roscoe W. Ramsey, a medical doctor.
At Lincoln, Ramsey replaces Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Patricia A. Joseph, who has served in that role since January 1.
