LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Lincoln University admissions representatives and cheerleaders joined former first lady Michelle Obama and thousands of students in Philadelphia for College Signing Day on May 2. Obama was the keynote speaker at Temple University’s Liacouras Center for the national event hosted by Reach Higher.

In her remarks, Obama encouraged students to “ignore the doubters” and to take advantage of resources by finding supportive instructors, tutors and study groups.

After her remarks, those in attendance had an opportunity meet the former first lady who was gifted Lincoln University memorabilia.

The event, which was part of the Obama’s Reach Higher initiative to inspire students to pursue higher education degrees, had approximately 8,000 high school students in attendance.

This year, Lincoln admissions representatives Dion Robinson and Dariq Cobb celebrated the over 100 Philadelphia students who committed to Lincoln University. Combined, the Philadelphia students were awarded $85,000 in merit based scholarships.

“It’s always exciting meeting future lions,” said Robinson. “I look forward to welcoming them on campus.”

Robinson and Cobb were joined by Lincoln cheerleaders Tochi Nnadi, Deja Cordova, Tamia Casey, and Anija Nelson.
