CBS affiliate KYW Newsradio recently named West Philadelphia native Marquis Butler a Philadelphia Game Changer at the CBS Broadcast Center.
CBS Game Changers are individuals recognized for positively impacting the African American community through a multitude of outlets including education, criminal justice, policy, sports, music and more.
Butler, a mass communications major and member of both the national and international honor societies, is the first Lincoln University student nominated as a CBS Game Changer.

Recognized for his commitment to youth empowerment and education, Butler accepted his award in front of a large public audience that included family, friends and staff members from Lincoln University.
Since 2016, Butler, through his organization Who Am I Now, has engaged various schools in West Philadelphia such as Daroff Universal Charter School and Richard Allen Charter School, to set up educational workshops for students in grades 6-12. The workshops include a wide array of topics including mental health awareness, college prep, professional development, and safe social media practices.
“My goal is to ensure youth from my community have the skills and education necessary to succeed in college and beyond,” said Butler in a recent interview.
Staying true to his goal, Butler recently facilitated a Day in the Life program that allowed middle school students from Richard Allen Charter School to shadow Lincoln University students as they attended class and campus events throughout the day.
“We wanted to give students a taste of what it’s like to attend college and work towards their goals,” said Butler.
After he graduates from Lincoln, Butler hopes to take expand the reach of his organization by registering it as a non-profit.
