Lions compete at Oscar Moore Invite

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. - The Lincoln University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Oscar Moore Track & Field Invitational, hosted by Rowan University. 

"The team continues to make progress even with the weather elements," said Head Track & Field Coach Roland Whiting. "We had a few strong performances led by Da'Avionce Rodriguez (Lancaster, Pa. /J.P. McCaskey) in the 100 and Keyana Brooks (Philadelphia, Pa./Hopewell Valley Central (N.J.)) for the women. Several athletes were awarded second-chance opportunities by qualifying for the finals in their events."

Sophomore Keyana Brooks (Philadelphia, Pa./Hopewell Valley Central (N.J.)) (Philadelphia, Pa./Hopewell Valley Central (N.J.)) made her outdoor debut with a team-best second-place finish in the shot put. Her first attempt of 11.18 meters had her in first place until the final throw, and she would finish the event in second.

The field events continued to carry the day for the Lions. On her second attempt, freshman Destini Palmer (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South) (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South) posted her scoring distance of 4.34 meters in the long jump to finish fourth. It was her best outdoor mark of the season. 
 

Freshman Serena Johnson (Manchester, Conn./Prince Tech) (Manchester, Conn./Prince Tech) added a seventh-place finish in the discus with a season-best distance of 29.62 meters.
 

After qualifying fourth in the 100-meter dash (12.93 seconds), junior Lacendria Pulley (Essex, Md./Baltimore Polytech) (Essex, Md./Baltimore Poly Tech) finished fourth with a time of 13.0 seconds. 
 

Lincoln had a pair of sprinters score in the 400 meters as freshman Charlette Hardy (Philadelphia, Pa. /Overbrook) (Philadelphia, Pa./Overbook) was seventh with a time of 1:02.79 and freshman Tymique Goodman (Gwynn Oak, Md./Woodlawn) (Gwynn Oak, Md./Woodlawn) was also seventh with a career-best time of 51.86.
 

Freshman sprinter Da'Avionce Rodriguez (Lancaster, Pa. /J.P. McCaskey) (Lancaster, Pa./McCaskey) continues to improve as the season progresses. He posted the time of 11.14 in the 100-meter prelims, Rodriguez was second in the 100 with the career-best time of 10.92 seconds. He was also fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.70 seconds.
 

Junior Jordan Clark (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill) (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill) added a seventh-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.46 seconds. Clark came back and finished third in the 110-meter hurdle prelims with a time of 15.56 seconds, and then placed seventh in the finals (15.72 seconds). 


Lincoln returns to action Wednesday at the Delaware State Stinger Meet.
