Lowery to coach HBCU All-Star Game

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Lincoln University Head Men's Basketball Coach Corey Lowery is headed to the Final Four.

Lowery was selected as one of four coaches for the inaugural HBCU All-Star Game, which will be taking place 4 p.m. April 3 at the UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans.  He will be joined by Alcorn State's Landon Bussie as the coach of Team Clarence "Big House" Gaines. The team will be made up of players from the SWAC and CIAA.

"It is an absolute honor to be chosen as one of the coaches to coach in the Inaugural HBCU All-Star game," said Lowery. "This is a monumental event that will finally showcase the athletic talent that our student-athletes have displayed to our HBCU community throughout the entire season. There are so many people that have worked tirelessly to gain this type of national exposure for our student athletes and to see this event come into reality is an absolute blessing for the entire HBCU community.

I cannot wait to work with the other three outstanding coaches whom were chosen for this event and I look forward to coaching these elite student-athletes," Lowery continued. "I envision this All-Star game being the culminating event that happens right before the Division I National Championship game every year. I also anticipate that this event will raise the intensity of coaching in the already competitive HBCU leagues since the Coaches of the Year will get the opportunity to participate in this yearly All-Star game."

Lowery took a team picked to finish 10th in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association to a second-place finish in the CIAA North Division and the four-seed in the CIAA Tournament. Under his tutelage, junior Zahrion Blue (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) earned CIAA Player of the Year honors.

Team John McLendon, a team comprised for players from the MEAC and SIAC, will be coached by Norfolk State's Robert Jones and Fred Watson, head coach at Miles College.

The conference's respective coaches of the year got the nods to be on the benches for this game, which will air live on CBS and be available to stream on Paramount Plus.
