MBB Preview: Johnson C. Smith

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA - Lincoln University men's basketball team begins Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) action 7:30 Thursday, hosting Johnson C. Smith. The athletic department is offering free admission, and requests non-perishable items or gently used clothing in lieu of admission.

SERIES HISTORY
Lincoln trails the series, 12-5, including a pair of losses in the 2019-20 season. The Lions trails 6-4 in CIAA games.

MR. TWO-WAY
Junior Zahrion Blue (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) leads the team, and is third in the CIAA, averaging 18.3 points per game. He has scored at least 15 points in 10 of the team's 11 games, including five times of at least 20 points. 
  
He is currently eighth in the conference with 7.5 rebounds, eighth with 3.0 assists, and seventh in assist to turnover ratio. Blue is also on the verge of scoring 1,000 career points in a Lincoln uniform, entering the game with 955 points. 

WINDEX MEN
Lincoln is one of the top rebounding teams in the CIAA, leading the league with 16.4 offensive rebounds and 26.8 defensive rebounds. The Lions are second in rebounding margin, outrebounding their opponents by 6.4 boards per game. 

SHARE THE WEALTH
Junior point guard Korey Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaSalle Academy) leads the team and is fourth in the conference with 3.4 assists per game. As the team, the Lions are fourth in the 12-team CIAA with 13.4 assists per game.

HIGH OCTANE
The Lincoln University men's basketball team is third in the CIAA with 76.5 points per game. The Lions are one of four conference teams with a positive scoring margin, outscoring teams by 5.6 points per game. 

RESERVE CONTRIBUTIONS
Through the first five games, the Lions were relying heavily on its starting five as freshman Bakir Cleveland (Newark, N.J. /University) was the only consistent scorer coming off the bench. 
    
As the season has progressed, and with the adjustment of the starting lineup, Lincoln is getting contributions through the rotation. Junior Alex Nunnally (Washington, D.C./Cesar Chavez Parkside), who has moved to a reserve role recently, has averaged a double-double with 10.6 points and 11.3 rebounds since moving to the bench. 

CIAA HONORS
A pair of Lincoln University men's basketball players Alex Nunnally (Washington, D.C./Cesar Chavez Parkside) and Bakir Cleveland (Newark, N.J. /University) was honored by the conference. Nunnally was named Defensive Player of the Week, while Cleveland earned Rookie of the Week honors.
