MBB Preview: LaSalle

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA - The Lincoln University men's basketball team takes a quick trip west to Philadelphia for an exhibition game with LaSalle. Due to NCAA rules, the game will count for the Explorers.

SERIES HISTORY
The game marks the first meeting between the two teams. It's the first time the Lions have played a team from the Atlantic 10 Conference. LaSalle is currently 0-3 following Sunday's 63-59 loss to Army.
 
SHOOTING OUT THE LIGHTS(EY)
Junior guard Bernard Lightsey (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) has scored at least 20 points in all three of the games this season, including a 26-point effort in the exhibition game against Morgan State University. In the two official contests, the sharpshooter is tallying 22.5 points on 60 percent shooting (15-of-25). He is shooting 9-of-14 (64.3 percent) from three-point range. 
 
SUPER SUB
Junior Ja'Zere Noel (Woodbury, N.J./Woodbury) has played extremely well off the bench for the Lions. After recording a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double in the opener, the Jefferson College transfer added 23 points in 22 minutes in the win over Bluefield State. On the season, Noel is averaging 21.5 points and 6.5 rebounds.
His 26 minutes per game are third on the team behind junior Korey Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaSalle Academy) (31.0) and junior Bernard Lightsey (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) (26.5).
 
SPECIAL K
Junior college transfer Korey Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaSalle Academy) is proving to be a great addition to the program. A JUCO All-American from Hostos C.C., Williams is third on the team with 21.0 points with 7.0 rebounds, and a team-high nine assists. He is currently 14-of-14 from the free throw line. 
 
A GOOD DAY-DAY COMING
Senior Deaquan Williams (Camden, N.J./Camden) returns for his senior season looking to become the third player in school history with 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds for his career. Through two games, Williams has 962 points and 787 rebounds. He is averaging nine points and eight rebounds on the season. 
Williams was recently named to the Black College Sports Network Preseason Basketball team. 
 
THE ONLY
Lincoln University is the only CIAA team playing non-conference hoops this season. The CIAA slate will begin on January 9.
 
FREE THROWS
Through a pair of games, the Lions have made almost as many free throws as their opponents have shot. Lincoln has made 53 (53-of-70), while their opponents have attempted 54 (43-of-54).
