Lincoln University women's basketball player Teira Pendleton (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute) has been named to the 2016-17 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women's Basketball Team. Pendleton is one of seven student-athletes selected to the 2016-17 Academic All-Area Women's Basketball Team. The team is voted on by the sports information offices of the 28 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
A junior majoring in biology at Lincoln, Pendleton has been named to the Lincoln Athletic Director's Honor Roll in each of her first two years at Lincoln and has earned Dean's List honors in every semester.
In the Lions' upset win over top seed Chowan in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Tournament quarterfinals, Pendleton scored 20 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had two key steals late in the game as Lincoln rallied from an eight point fourth quarter deficit for the win. Her efforts earned Pendleton the "Food Lion Player of the Game" honors. She added 16 points in Lincoln's semi-final loss to Virginia State and was named to the CIAA All-Tournament team at the conclusion of the championship.
