LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. - The Lincoln University football teams plays the first of three straight homecomings as the Lions travel to Virginia Union 1 p.m. Saturday.

THE LAST MEETING
Lincoln fell to Virginia Union, 62-0, on its Homecomin game on September 13, 2019 as VUU racked up 567 yards of total offense. 
Lincoln quarterback Eban Jackson finished 9-of-21 for 68 yards with two interceptions with running back Amir Gerald hauling in four of the nine passes for 14 yards. Rashon Cooke (Sharon Hill, Pa./Lower Merion) led the team with 31 yards receiving. 
Justin Johnson (Etters, Pa./Red Land) had 40 yards rushing on eight attempts. 
Defensively, Ivan Mertilus (Revere, Mass./St. Clement) and Devon Cathcart (Chicago, Ill./Thornton Fractional South) combined for 15 tackles.
 
THE LAST GAME
For the fifth straight game, the Lincoln University defense has recorded an interception. And this time, it paid off in points in the Lions' 40-7 loss to Fayetteville State University Saturday in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association action at Luther "Nick" Jeralds Stadium.
Andre Williams (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) secured Lincoln's seventh interception of the season, all by different players, and returned it 65 yards for LU's lone touchdown of the game.
Trae Greene (Willingboro, N.J. /Willingboro) came off the bench to go 3-for-8 for 38 yards and he added 15 yards rushing, while Elijah Snell (Brooklyn, N.Y./Erasmus Hall) was the leading rusher with 16 yards. Rashon Cooke (Sharon Hill, Pa./Lower Merion) had two receptions for 22 yards.
 
SMOOTH CRIMINALS
The Lincoln defense has recorded an interception in each of the first five games and enters this contest with seven picks total. Four different players - Eric Best (Burlington, N.J. /Burlington)Rontay Dunbar (Brooklyn, N.Y. /Freedom)Roosevelt Jordan (Shamong, N.J./Seneca)Devon Cathcart (Chicago, Ill./Thornton Fractional South)Jesse Jackson (Washington, D.C./Dunbar)Andre Williams (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti), and Khaleb McRae (Willingboro, N.J./Willingboro) - all have an interception on the season. 
 
BANKS ON IT
Freshman Andrew Banks (Atlanta, Ga. /Mays) has staked claim to the quarterback position, starting the last three games. Lincoln started the season with three quarterbacks via for the job with Isaiah Wilson (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) V starting the first two games. 
He is completing 56 percent (42-of-75) of his passes for 381 yards and an interception in his three games of action. He has the lone rushing touchdown on the team. 
 
SHARING THE LOAD
Unlike the quarterback position, where one person has solidified his place at the top of the depth chart - the running back room is still searching for someone to take the helm. 
Injuries have played a huge part in the constant shuffling of the room as Elijah Snell (Brooklyn, N.Y./Erasmus Hall), who was the sixth on the depth chart to start the season, is currently the top option. 
Snell lead the team with 94 yards on 24 carries, while Ahman Foster-Powell (Henrico, Va./Highland Springs) is still second on the team - despite missing nearly two games - with 75 yards on 28 carries. 
 
ROCKING THE CREDLE
Junior receiver Michael Credle, Jr. (Bear, Del./Glasgow) leads the team with 19 receptions for 148 yards through four games. Rashon Cooke (Sharon Hill, Pa./Lower Merion) has seven catches for 96 yards, while Drew Stephens (Newark, N.J. /Abraham Clark) is third on the team with five receptions for 85 yards.
 
MILITARY ACADEMIES
Lincoln's football roster has four new players that have spent time at Military Prep Schools. Quarterback Andrew Banks (Atlanta, Ga. /Mays) and defensive lineman Darius Sterling (South Chesterfield, Va./Thomas Dale) hail from Fork Union Military Academy, while offensive lineman Shawn Kemmerer (Columbia, Pa./Columbia) and receiver Shannon Squire (North Philadelphia, Pa. /Kensington Creative and Performing Arts) spent time at Valley Forge Military Academy.
 
SEEING DOUBLE
Two sets of twins will line up for the Lions this season in defensive linemen Evan and Elliot Chavous, and defensive backs Roosevelt and Samuel Bryant (Tucker, Ga. /Tucker)
 
WELCOME TO COATESVILLE
Due to construction delays, the first four Lincoln University football games will be moved to Coatesville Area High School. The next home game will be 1 p.m. October 16 against Elizabeth City State for Homecoming. 
 
SACKS TO GIVE BACK
For every sack the Lions record this season, Food Lion Feeds will donate one-thousand meals to feed our neighbors in need right here in Oxford area.
This far, Lincoln is responsible for 7,000 meals as Devon Cathcart (Chicago, Ill./Thornton Fractional South) leads the team with three sacks and Derrick McCoy (Bridgeton, N.J. /Bridgeton) has two sacks.  Mike Johnson (Edgewood, Md./Edgewood) and Makhai Beasley (Washington, D.C. /McKinley Tech) also has a sack for the Lions.
