LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lincoln University women's soccer team opened East Coast Conference action with the 8-0 loss Saturday to Saint Thomas Aquinas in Sparkill, N.Y.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans scored four goals in each half.
- They opened the scoring with a pair of goals, just 13 seconds apart, in the game's sixth minute. The added goals in the 15th and 23rd minutes to take the 4-0 halftime lead.
- STAC picked up two goals, 23 seconds apart, in the game's 71st minute to take the 6-0 lead. The Spartans tacked on goals in the 86th and 87th minutes.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Freshman Saige Samuels (Laurel, Md. /Paint Branch) recorded eight saves in the first half and six more in the second half for 14 saves.
- STAC finished with the 36-4 advantage in shots and an 11-2 advantage in corner kicks.
- Three different players – junior Kianna Lee (Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago/East Stroudsburg North (PA)), senior Kenya Davis (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Osseo), and freshman Grace Quiah (Philadelphia, Pa. /John Bartram) – placed shots on frame for the Lions.
WHAT'S NEXT
- Lincoln (0-3) returns home to face Bloomfield 1 p.m. Tuesday. The game was moved from Bloomfield due to field issues. The Bears won the first meeting this season, 5-0.
