LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. - Freshman Theresa Schmid (Ringelai, Germany/Gymnasium Freyung) scored the first goal of her college career as the Lincoln University women's soccer team fell to Bloomfield College Tuesday, 3-1, in non-conference action at the LU Aux Field.
The game was moved from Bloomfield due to unplayable field conditions.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bloomfield took the lead with a goal in the fifth minute and added a second goal in the 38th minute to take a 2-0 halftime lead.
- Schmid tallied Lincoln's goal with a beautiful free-kick over the outstretched arms of the Bears' keeper in the 81st minute. Lincoln had a chance at the equalizer moments later.
- The Bears added a much-needed insurance goal in the 87th minute.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Lincoln finished with a season-high six shots on goal, three of which coming from senior Sarata Bello (Sagamu, Nigeria/Remo Methodist).
- Freshman Saige Samuels (Laurel, Md. /Paint Branch) finished with 14 saves while facing a season-low 17 shots. She recorded seven saves in each half.
- The Lions were outshot 27-7 in the contest.
- Lincoln finished with six fouls, while Bloomfield had 10 fouls.
