Lincoln University, Pa. – Lincoln University will host guest speaker Elaine Brown at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 4. She is most notably known as the leader of the Black Panther Party where she served as chairman in the mid-seventies.
Brown is currently the chief executive officer of Oakland & the World Enterprises, a non-profit organization that launches for-profit businesses for cooperative-ownership between formerly incarcerated individuals and those facing barriers to employment and economic hardship.
Previously, Brown served as the executive director of Fields of Flowers, a non-profit organization that provides educational opportunities for African-American children and is the co-founder of Mothers Advocating for Juvenile Justice and the National Alliance for Radical Prison Reform.
She is a member various social justice committees including the International Prisoners’ Rights Movement; the Kenneth Harding, Jr. Foundation; and the Justice 4 Mario Woods Coalition among others.
The convocation is part of Lincoln’s commitment to providing students with co-curricular learning opportunities as outlined in the University’s new strategic plan.
