On November 9 around 10:30 p.m., an altercation reportedly began among Lincoln University students and guests waiting in line to enter the Student Union Building for a dance. An officer responding to the incident was assaulted as the crowd grew. Pepper spray was deployed as a cautionary method to control the crowd. Students affected were transported to area hospitals for treatment. All students have been released from the hospital. There were no major injuries to officers or other injuries to students. Two arrests were made for disorderly conduct. Order was restored and the party ended early. The University requested and received additional law enforcement support from surrounding jurisdictions.
Lincoln University President Brenda A. Allen has canceled all parties, pending review of procedures, and has pledged to bring students and administrators together to address concerns and develop procedures to prevent such incidents in the future.
