Three players reach double figures

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA - The Lincoln University men's basketball team dropped an exhibition game to Division I LaSalle University Tuesday, 80-62, at the Tom Gola Arena.

Junior Korey Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaSalle Academy) (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaSalle Academy) led a trio of double-figure scorers with 17 points, while junior Zahrion Blue (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) added 14 points and junior Ja'Zere Noel (Woodbury, N.J./Woodbury) (Woodbury, N.J./Woodbury) registered 11 points. Senior Deaquan Williams (Camden, N.J./Camden) (Chester, Pa./Chester) pulled down a team-high seven boards.

LaSalle closed the first half on a 19-3 run that transformed a three-point lead into a 19-point halftime advantage. Lincoln was just 1-of-8 with three turnovers, while the Explorers connected on eight of their 11 attempts, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.

For seven minutes in the second half, Lincoln controlled the game by scoring 15 of 21 points to pull to within nine with 9:40 remaining. It was a combination of hot shooting (7-of-11) and solid defense that gave the Lions life. Unfortunately, LaSalle answered with 10 straight to salt the game away.

Lincoln (2-0) returns to Division II action 1 p.m. Saturday with a non-conference game at Salem University. The Lions opened the season with a 99-78 home victory over Salem.
