LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lincoln University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday at the CIAA Round-up, hosted by Virginia State, Petersburg, Va.
CLAFLIN 3, LINCOLN 0 (25-9, 25-1, 25-8)
Lincoln finished with eight kills in the game as junior Janae Stackhouse (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore PolyTech) and Kaiya Lewis (Queens, N.Y./Queens Preparatory Academy) each had two kills. Freshman Jaida Lumpkin (Middletown, Del./Middletown) dished out six of the team's eight assists and was tied for the team lead with freshman Mariah Webster (Detroit, Mich./Cass Tech) with eight digs.
JOHNSON C. SMITH 3, LINCOLN 2 (18-25, 25-17, 25-13, 11-25, 15-10)
Johnson C. Smith scored four straight points after the game was tied in the fifth set, and the Golden Bulls held on for the thrilling five-set victory.
Lincoln forced the deciding fifth set with a decisive 25-11 win in the fourth set. The Lions claimed the opening set but lost the next two.
Three different players – Jasmin Lewis (Baltimore, Md. /Western), Stackhouse, and K. Lewis finished with 10 kills. K. Lewis had 10 kills with four errors on 27 attempts (.222 hitting percentage) and 13 digs, while Stackhouse had 10 kills with eight errors on 44 attempts (.045 hitting percentage). J. Lewis rounded out the trio with a double-double on 10 kills with eight errors on 38 attempts (.054 hitting percentage) and 13 digs.
Lumpkin finished with a double-double by registering a career-highs in assists (29) and digs (11). Webster recorded a career-best 23 digs.
Lincoln wraps up the Round-up 11 a.m. Saturday, facing Winston-Salem State.
