LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA – The Lincoln University volleyball team dropped a four-set match (25-21, 18-25, 25-19, 25-23) to Bowie State in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association action Thursday in Bowie, MD.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bowie scored six straight en route to a 13-3 run to seize control of the first set.
- After falling behind early, a 5-0 spurt gave Lincoln some breathing room in the second set. The Lions added a 10-2 spurt to put the set away.
- Neither team could pull away in the third set, and midway through, following a service ace by freshman Haley Loper (Middletown, Del./St. Georges Technical) – Lincoln led 14-10. However, Bowie took control with nine straight points aided by five attack errors and two service aces.
- The fourth set was nip and tuck through with the largest lead either team held was four points. Unfortunately, the Lions trailed for most of the set and ultimately fell, 25-23.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- For the third time this season, Loper recorded at least 10 kills – finishing with 12 kills with one error on 33 attempts for a .333 hitting percentage. It marked her second-highest hitting percentage on the season.
- Freshman Jaida Lumpkin (Middletown, Del./Middletown) notched her fourth double-double of the season with career-highs in assists (30) and digs (15). She added a career-high five service aces in the match.
- Junior Kaiya Lewis (Queens, N.Y./Queens Preparatory Academy) added seven kills with a team-high five blocks and one dig.
- Freshman Mariah Webster (Detroit, Mich./Cass Tech) contributed 13 digs for the Lions.
- Lincoln didn't have a single set with a negative hitting percentage in the match.

- Lincoln concluded CIAA action 6 p.m. Monday when they travel to Shaw.
