WBB Preview: Jefferson

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA - The Lincoln women's basketball team returns home for a non-conference contest between a pair of regionally-ranked teams.

SERIES HISTORY
Lincoln has one victory in the eight all-time meetings with Jefferson. The Lions' only victory came in the 2013-14 season as Lincoln recorded the 71-58 home victory. 

I BRY-LIEVE
Senior Bryanna Brown (New York, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) is just 2 points from reaching 1,000 career points in her NCAA Division II career. The shooting guard scored 653 points in her first two seasons at NYACK. She has tallied 345 points in a Lincoln uniform. 

Brown is currently second in the CIAA in scoring with 14.8 points per game. Coming into the season, the guard was named preseason All-CIAA as a backcourt selection in the conference vote of head coaches and sports information personnel.  
She leads in the conference, making 92.3 percent (36-of-39) of her free throws this season. 

REGIONAL POLLING
Both teams enter the game ranked in their respective D2SIDA regional polls. It marks the first time this season Lincoln, which is ranked ninth in the Atlantic Region, has appeared in the poll. Jefferson is ranked fourth in the East Region Poll.
Lincoln is 1-1 against regionally ranked teams, losing to Shepherd, 64-47, and beating Charleston, 73-68.

HIGH POWERED OFFENSE
After being held to a season-low 47 points in the loss to Shepherd, Lincoln has responded with its two best-scoring games of the season, dropping 87 on Washington Adventist and following that up with 73 against Charleston - both victories. 
The Lions are leading the CIAA with 69.8 points per game, and are second in scoring margin at plus-6.3. Lincoln is one of four CIAA schools with a positive scoring margin. 

DROPPING DIMES
Junior Jade Young (Philadelphia, Pa./Abington Friends School) has been a settling force for the Lincoln offense mainly off the bench this season. In the last game against Washington Adventist, Young got her first start of the year. She is tied for second in the conference with 2.4 assists per game. 

As a team, the Lions are leading the CIAA with 13.60 assists per game. 

HITTING THE GLASS
Lincoln has gained extra possessions by pulling down 109 offensive rebounds, besting its opponents, 109-56. The extra opportunities have led to 79 second-chance points. Offensive rebounds account for 41.2 percent of Lincoln's rebounds. 

Junior Jeana Weatherspoon (Columbus, Ohio/Northland) leads the team with 14 offensive rebounds, while senior Krystell Gordy is second with 13 offensive boards. Gordy is tied with senior guard Bryanna Brown (New York, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) with 6.2 rebounds, tying them for 11th in the CIAA.
