WBB Preview: Johnson C. Smith

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA - Lincoln University women's basketball team opens Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association play 5:30 p.m. Thursday, hosting Johnson C. Smith. There is complementary admission for the game. The athletic department is accepting non-perishable items or gently used clothing in lieu of admission.

SERIES HISTORY
Lincoln trails the all-time series with Johnson C. Smith, 12-7, and has lost seven of the 10 CIAA meetings with the Golden Bulls. However, the Lions have won four of the last five meetings.

CIAA OPENERS
This marks the fourth consecutive season Lincoln has opened CIAA action against Johnson C. Smith. The Golden Bulls have won two of the previous three meetings. Lincoln is 4-7 in CIAA openers. 
    
I BRY-LIEVE
Fifth-year senior Bryanna Brown (New York, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin), a career 1,000-point scorer, is second in the CIAA with 15.2 points per game. She leads the conference, making 88.3 percent (53-of-60) of her free throws this season. She is also fourth in the CIAA with 1.8 three-pointers per game.

Coming into the season, the guard was named preseason All-CIAA as a backcourt selection in the conference vote of head coaches and sports information personnel.  
    
HIGH POWERED OFFENSE
After a season-high 91 points in the win over Bloomfield, Lincoln leads the CIAA in scoring with 72.7 points per game. The Lions are third in scoring margin at plus-8.7. LU is one of four CIAA schools with a positive scoring margin. 

FROM DOWNTOWN
Lincoln is second in the conference with 4.9 three-pointers per game and a league-high 49 total three-pointers. 

VARIABLE STARTERS
The starting five of Jaleesa Lanier (Easton, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic)Bryanna Brown (New York, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin)Jade Young (Philadelphia, Pa./Abington Friends School)Jeana Weatherspoon (Columbus, Ohio/Northland), and Krysell Gordy were the seventh different starting lineup in nine games for the Lions. Lincoln has started different lineups in six consecutive games.

Fifth-year senior Bryanna Brown (New York, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) and has started eight of those nine games. Three different players - Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep)Jade Young (Philadelphia, Pa./Abington Friends School), and Lanier - have all started at point guard this season. 

HITTING THE GLASS
Lincoln has pulled down at least 20 offensive rebounds in three of the last four games, including a season-high 28 against Jefferson. On the season, the Lions have five games of 20 or more offensive rebounds and are 3-2 in those contests.
