WBB Preview: Univ. of District of Columbia

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA - The Lincoln University women's basketball team travels down Interstate 95 for its second non-conference road game of the season, meeting the University of District of Columbia 5 p.m. Tuesday. 

SERIES HISTORY
Lincoln trails the overall series, 3-1, but the Lions won the most recent game - beating the Firebirds, 68-59. The nine-point margin was the largest margin of victory, by either team, in the series.

I BRY-LIEVE
Fifth-year senior Bryanna Brown (New York, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) surpassed the 1,000-point mark with a free throw in the first quarter of Saturday's game against Jefferson. She now has 1,020 points in the NCAA Division II career. The shooting guard scored 653 points in her first two seasons at NYACK. She has tallied 367 points in a Lincoln uniform. 
     
Brown is currently second in the CIAA in scoring with 15.9points per game. Coming into the season, the guard was named preseason All-CIAA as a backcourt selection in the conference vote of head coaches and sports information personnel.  
    
She is second in the conference, making 88.9 percent (40-of-45) of her free throws this season. 

HIGH POWERED OFFENSE
The Lions are second in the CIAA with 69.7 points per game, trailing leader Fayetteville State (71.0). Lincoln is fourth in scoring margin at plus-5.3. LU is one of four CIAA schools with a positive scoring margin. 

FROM DOWNTOWN
Lincoln leads the conference with 5.7 three-pointers per game and 40 total three-pointers. 

VARIABLE STARTERS
The starting five of Jaleesa Lanier (Easton, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic)Bryanna Brown (New York, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin)Kania Pollock (Queens, N.Y./The Mary Louis Academy)Shantel Cheeks (Washington D.C./Rock Creek Christian Academy (Harcum College)), and Krysell Gordy was the fifth different starting lineup in seven games for the Lions. Fifth-year senior Bryanna Brown (New York, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) is the only player to have started all seven games. Fifth-year senior Joy Morton (Yeadon, Pa./Penn Wood) has started six of the seven games. 
    
Three different players - Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep)Jade Young (Philadelphia, Pa./Abington Friends School), and Lanier - have all started at point guard this season. 

DROPPING DIMES
Junior Jade Young (Philadelphia, Pa./Abington Friends School) has been a settling force for the Lincoln offense mainly off the bench this season. She is sixth in the CIAA with 2.8 assists per game. 

HITTING THE GLASS
Lincoln is coming off a season-high 28 offensive rebounds in the loss to Jefferson. The 28 offensive rebounds only resulted in 12 second-chance points. It was the third time this season the Lions registered at least 25 offensive rebounds. However, Lincoln is 1-2 in those contests.
