XC competes at Jack St. Clair

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lincoln University cross country teams competed in the Jack St. Clair Invitational Saturday at Belmont Plateau, Philadelphia, Pa.

The men's team placed 14th of 15 teams, while the women's team came in eighth of nine teams.

For the second consecutive meet, freshman Clayton McLaren (Brockton, Mass./Brimmer and May) was the first Lincoln runner to complete the 8K course, placing 60th in 35:01.9. Freshman Jeremy Gyan (Bear, Del./Newark Charter) was the next Lion harrier across the line with a 71st place finish in the time of 38:38.5, while classmate Lamar Clanton (Wyncote, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) was right behind him in 38:47.7.

The last two runners to score for Lincoln were Corey Muzon (Stone Mountain, Ga./Stone Mountain), 74th in 39:20.8, and sophomore Spencer Seide (Mount Vernon, N.Y./Mount Vernon), 85th in 43:27.4 – which was more than a second better than his previous 8K time.

On the women's side, a trio of Lincoln runners came across the line in 46th, 47th and 48th to lead the Lions.

Freshman Destiny Pierre-Mathieu was the first of the trio with the time of 31:03.6, followed by Kamani Johns (Chester, Pa./Chester) in 31:16.8 and Aniyah Epps in 31:31.3. Junior Kaz'Minah Turner turned in a season-best performance with the time of 39:44.7, while freshman LaShell Full () finished the 6K course in 40:35.1.

Lincoln has a quick turnaround as the Lions travel to Bowie, Md. Wednesday for the Bowie State Cross Country Classic.
