WBB rebounds with thumping of SAU

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA  – The Lincoln University women's basketball rebounded from its first Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association loss with a thumping of Saint Augustine's Wednesday, 77-39, at Emery Gymnasium in Raleigh, NC. It marked the 11th consecutive win over the Falcons.

Five players, led by fifth-year senior Bryanna Brown (New York, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin), reached double figures in the victory. Brown finished with a game-high 18 points and four rebounds.

Freshman Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep) contributed 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting, while Kania Pollock (Queens, N.Y./The Mary Louis Academy) chipped in with 10 points – eight of which came in the third quarter.

Junior Janya Lilly (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Poly Tech) and freshman Maya M. Walker (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) tallied 10 points and five rebounds each. Junior Jeana Weatherspoon (Columbus, Ohio/Northland) also pulled down five rebounds for the Lions. Pollock, Lilly, and Walker were the primary bench contributors as the LU reserves outscored their counterparts, 34-8. The Lincoln bench squad outscored the SAU starters, 34-31.

Lincoln tallied nine of the game's first 11 points and didn't look back, outscoring Saint Augustine's in every quarter.

The Lions forced 27 turnovers which led to 29 points.

Lincoln (10-4 overall, 3-1 CIAA) returns to the hardwood 2 p.m. Saturday, traveling to rival-Bowie State.
