LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA – The Lincoln University men's track and field team placed seventh of eight teams in the 2022 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Championships.
"The overall team finish wasn't as expected, but I like the energy of these young guys as we will continue to build," said Lincoln University Head Coach Roland Whiting. "Glenn Butler, Jeremy Gyan (Bear, Del./Newark Charter), and Jordan Hall (Randallstown, Md./Newtown) led the team with podium all-conference finishes. Butler continues to shine with MVP honors of the season and of the meet. I'm looking forward to closing out the season as All American Butler is poised for another NCAA appearance."
Senior Glenn Butler, Jr. (Greenburgh, N.Y./White Plains) continues to dominate his events and was named the 2022 CIAA Indoor Field Athlete of the Year for his performances during the season. Then he backed up the recognition by claiming CIAA championships in the long and high jumps.
Butler, who is fourth nationally in the long jump, won the event with a mark of 7.35 meters, and then won the high jump with a mark of 1.93 meters.
Freshman Jeremy Gyan (Bear, Del./Newark Charter) finished second in the heptathlon with 3,667 points. He won the shot put (10.33 meters) and the pole vault (3.15 meters). Gyan added three more top 10 finishes with a second-place finish in the high jump (1.70 meters), a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (9.17 seconds), and a seventh-place finish in the 1,000 meters.
Freshman Jordan Hall (Randallstown, Md./Newtown) placed third in the 60-meter hurdles (8.40 seconds), junior Dominic George (Wyncote, Pa./Cheltenham) was fifth in the 60-meter dash (7.08 seconds) and freshman Clayton McLaren (Brockton, Mass./Brimmer and May) was eighth in the 800-meter run (2:09.80) to round out the scoring for the Lions.
