Regional Athlete of the Year, again, for Butler

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – For the second straight year, Glenn Butler, Jr. (Greenburgh, N.Y./White Plains) has been named the Atlantic Region Men's Field Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA).

Butler was joined on the All-Region team by freshman Kamani Johns (Chester, Pa./Chester). Butler was all-region in both the high jump and long jump, while Johns earned regional honors in the 400-meter run. Johns placed third in the event at the CIAA Championships in a time of 57.55 seconds, nearly a second faster than her previous best.

"Congratulations to Glenn and Kamani," said Roland Whiting, Lincoln University track & field coach. "They are two of the most consistent and competitive athletes on the team. Both Kamani and Glenn led the team with provisional NCAA qualifying marks that also contributed to their all-region rankings. I'm excited about their futures and grateful to have them a part of the program."

Butler earned First-Team All-American honors primarily by virtue of finishing fifth in the long jump at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships. He was also the CIAA Champion in both the long jump and high jump. Butler set two season bests at the NYC Gotham Cup in the long jump (7.61m/24-11¾) and high jump (2.04m/6-8¼).
