Baseball season comes to an end

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA – The Lincoln University baseball team capped the 2022 season with an 8-1 loss to the College of Staten Island Friday in East Coast Conference action in Staten Island, NY. 

The rest of the three-game ECC series was canceled due to inclement weather. Lincoln finishes the season 5-35 overall, 1-18 in the ECC.

Freshman Wesley Hogan (Washington, D.C./Maret) was responsible for the Lions' lone run, opening the fifth inning with a triple and scoring on a wild pitch. It was one of four Lincoln hits in the game. 

Senior Justin McClain (New Castle Del./Del Castle Tech), sophomore Damaal Sands (Nassau, Bahamas/Montverde Academy (FL)), and sophomore Jefry Azcona (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic) all recorded singles. Azcona finished the season with a Lincoln D2-era single-season record of 41 hits.

The Dolphins scored two runs in the first, one in the second, one in the fourth, two in the sixth, and two more in the eighth inning to complete the scoring. 

Freshman Liam Palmer (Ford Island, Hawaii/Grassfield (Va.)), 0-4, allowed six runs – five earned – on 10 hits in six innings of action.
