LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA – The Lincoln University men's track and field team claimed three individual championships as the Lions placed fourth in the 2022 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Outdoor Championships in Bowie, MD.
Senior Glenn Butler, who was named the 2022 CIAA Men's Field Athlete of the Year, backed up those accolades by winning the long jump (7.24 meters) and the high jump (2.0 meters). Freshman Jeremy Gyan (Bear, Del./Newark Charter) registered the other CIAA championship with a victory in the javelin with a career-best distance of 44.31 meters.
Butler added more points to the tally by teaming with Jude Butumbi (Philadelphia, Pa./Northeast), Nyle Buchanan (King George, Va./King George), and Dominic George (Wyncote, Pa./Cheltenham) to place third in the 400-meter relay (43.38 seconds). The 1600-meter relay team of Spencer Seide (Mount Vernon, N.Y./Mount Vernon), Jordan Hall (Randallstown, Md./Newtown), Buchanan, and Ra'ar Corinaldi placed second in the time of 3:22.69.
Buchanan and George each scored in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. George placed fifth in the 100 (10.91) and Buchanan was seventh (10.96), and then the two switched places as Buchanan was fifth in the 200 (22.40 seconds) and George was seventh (22.58 seconds).
After posting the fastest time in the prelims, Ra'ar Corinaldi placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (59.71 seconds) and Hall was second in the event (57.45 seconds). Brandon Frierson (Philadelphia, Pa./Olney Charter) scored with an eighth-place finish in the 5000 (19:23.03).
Butumbi registered a career-best distance of 13.35 meters with a third-place finish in the triple jump and he added a sixth-place finish in the long jump (6.41 meters).
